Caring For All Kids!

Morning Inspiration: “But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone hung around your neck.” Jesus quoted in
Mark 9:42 I have never personally met a young child, who did not believe in God. Most seem to naturally sense that He exists, while many of the rest eagerly accept what they learn about Jesus. We are given the honorable task of not only protecting & nurturing the little ones we come across in this life, but teaching them the truth about the Lord. We need to be very aware that we do this through our words & our actions, both towards them, & those around us. If our poor examples teach them sinful behavior, the responsibility falls on us, & there is a heavy price to pay. “Jesus help me be be careful about all I think, do & say. Help me to be a godly example for a child today.”

The Power To Become Like Jesus!

Morning Inspiration: By his divine power, Jesus has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence. And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
2 Peter 1:3–4 Trying to be ‘godly’ through our own power, is a useless exercise of futility. It’s just NOT going to happen! The good news is, everything we need to become more like God, is freely available, but only through our personal relationship with Jesus! He promises that through His divine power, we will eventually share in & acquire the same nature as God. That allows us to escape the evils of our natural desires & the decaying world around us. As believers, His Holy Spirit is already in us, teaching us to avoid & resist the…

What Do You Call Jesus?

Morning Inspiration: For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His government and its peace will never end.
Isaiah 9:6–7 This Scripture, written approximately 700 years before Jesus was born, accurately predicted His first coming. The references to His government, refer to His rule & reign over all creation following His 2nd coming. There are numerous worldwide indications that this could finally happen, very soon! Some of His many titles of honor, or the special names Jesus will be known as are listed. The key thing is what YOU call Him now. If Jesus is not your Lord & Savior today, you may not get the chance to know & worship Him tomorrow. Make Jesus your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, & Prince of Peace, by asking Him into your heart right now.

Overcoming Our Fear of Telling The Truth

Morning Inspiration: For God has not given us a spirit of fear & timidity, but of power, love and self discipline. So you must never be afraid to tell others about our Lord. 2nd Timothy 1:7 I know from personal experience how intimidating it can be to try & share your faith with others. Paul gives us an effective recipe to overcome our shyness & concerns. It’s a mix of power, love & self discipline. Ask God’s Holy Spirit for personal courage, & the power to overcome your fear. Love others SO much, that you want to, HAVE to tell them about all Jesus has done for you! Discipline yourself through practice, & make it a priority. For me, asking God for boldness was a life altering prayer. He will, step by step, begin to place opportunities in your path that are impossible to pass up!

God Saves Us, To Save Others!

Morning Inspiration: I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
and he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.
Psalm 40:1–3 When we truly trust God, we learn to wait on His timing, knowing that
Jesus eventually rescues us from our trouble & despair. Along with us,
He saves many other in the process. They see our transformation,
& hear the new song in our heart. That encourages them to seek
God also.

Sowing & Growing Seeds of Generosity

Morning Inspiration: For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. 2nd Corinthians 9:10 A single seed, planted & cared for, then blessed by God, multiplies itself hundreds of times over. Yet a farmer with a lot of mouths to feed, doesn’t plant just one seed. He plants as much as he is able, which is harvested into more wheat than he needs. His abundance is used make the bread that feeds his family, & many others! God has a similar system at work with our money. When you give generously, you ‘plant a seed’ in the life of someone in need. You kick off a chain reaction that Jesus will magnify & multiply thousands of times over. Not only will the Lord give you back more than you gave, He’ll grow your trust in Him, allowing you to give even more. God loves a cheerful giver. Ironically, the more you learn to give, the more joyful you w…

Live or Die, Believers Win!

Morning Inspiration: For to me, living is for Christ, and dying is even better. Paul, in Philippians 1:21 Even though he suffered greatly, Paul understood the Big Picture. If he were to live, he’d spend every day glorifying Jesus. If he were to die, he’d spend eternity with His Savior. Either way, he knew he couldn’t lose! To those who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus, this life is all there is, the best they will ever know. They have to fight for pleasure, power & prestige every step of the way. Living & dying for Jesus, bring us much more rewarding & joy filled ways to spend all of our days.

Why We Shouldn't Worry

Morning Inspiration: Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not! And if worry can’t do little things like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Jesus in Luke 12:25-26 While worry can’t add to the length of our life, it sure can shorten it.
Worrying is something a Christian should never do. It’s a total waste of our time, & detrimental to our health & well being. Jesus tells us again & again to place our trust in Him, & to believe that God will always give us all that we need. Work hard for the good of others. Plan for success. Prepare for the worst...but never worry! Trust that whatever the Lord allows into your pathway of life is there for a good reason. Knowing that Jesus loves us & watches over us, should give us the comfort of a small child in his fathers arms.

Life Is Short!

Morning Inspiration: “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is. Psalm 39:4 The shocking death of a vibrant, young community leader, who was a loving wife & mother, has many trying to make sense of it all. In a freak accident, a jet engine exploded & the debris blew out the window she was sitting by. There must have been hundreds of other airliners flying around the world at that very moment. 149 passengers were onboard her plane. The odds of her being the one in that spot, at that instant, were astronomical. I can’t even begin to try & explain why it happened. Yet we trust that God can. We could quote many scriptures that we hope will bring some comfort, but I suggest refraining from for now. I prefer this one, that asks the Lord to remind us that our life is incredibly short, & uncertain.
Most never stop to think about life’s brevity, & how precious each day should be. Are there people you need …

Unity In Spite of Disagreement

Morning Inspiration: Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. Ephesians 4:3-4 We are reminded that getting along with other Christians, takes hard work. We are each by our nature, selfish, stubborn & judgmental. We can argue over which method is best for baptism, communion, music...& even the color of the carpet! This Scripture calls us all to unity, even through disagreement. God created amazing variety in animals, people & plants, so it makes sense to think He would welcome a wide range of worship. We honor Him by working alongside the various Christian denominations who do things differently. As long as we all believe the same basic foundations of our faith, we can be united as one through His Holy Spirit. One Savior, Jesus, born of a virgin, to live a sinless life, then be sacrificed for our sin, to be buried…

Benefits of Devoting Yourself to Prayer

Morning Inspiration: Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Colossians 4:1 The word devote is a verb, and I mention that, because prayer is faith in action!
When we devote ourselves to prayer, we set aside special places & times, so we can concentrate on the purposes & people Jesus has placed in our hearts. Focusing on the needs of others, helps us be alert to God’s will in how we might help, & encourage them. Sincere & honest prayer should always bring us to our knees in thanks and gratitude, for all the Lord has done, all He has protected us from, & all Jesus promises is still to come.

Scripture & Your Weather Forecast!

Morning Inspiration: “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
Jesus, in Matthew 7:24–27 We’re expecting a powerful windstorm today, strong enough to blow down trees & damage buildings.
This Scripture came to mind, because Jesus used the example of weather & buildings, to explain the importance of true faith to us. When we really ‘hear’ what Jesus teaches, & obey all He has to say, we are building a solid foundation on The Rock! When we go our own way & refuse to obey, we create our own personal crash of crisis. The storms of life are coming to us a…

Celebrate the Life of Laura Galbraith

Family, friends & co-workers will gather together at New Covenant Church Thursday, April 12th, to celebrate the life of Laura Galbraith. Laura's love & devotion to NCC gave her a very special place in our hearts. Her faith in Jesus throughout her long battle with cancer encouraged many. We'll see some great pictures, & hear several of her favorite songs, performed live by Laura's friends. We will learn a lot about who Laura was, from a valued co-worker, a dear NCC friend, & her niece Joanna. Pastor Dave Row will help us move from feeling our loss, to realizing her gain, & looking forward seeing Laura in the future. A reception in our Foyer will follow the service. We look forward to you joining us.

He Is Building Better Bodies!

Morning Inspiration: Our bodies now disappoint us, but when they are raised, they will be full of glory. They are weak now, but when they are raised, they will be full of power. They are natural human bodies now, but when they are raised, they will be spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, so also there are spiritual bodies.
1st Corinthians 15: 43-44 Those who suffer from illness & disease understand what Paul means about our bodies disappointing us. Some feel betrayed. Even the healthiest people, eventually see their bodies deteriorating & fading away as we age. We honor God by taking good care of whatever body He has given us for now. We give glory to the Lord when we look forward to the new body we are promised, through our faith in Jesus. Very soon, His Holy Spirit will give us not only a much more awesome body, but the mind & heart of Christ Jesus also!

Encouragement In The Darkest Times!

Morning Inspiration: “Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world. Look, I am coming quickly. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of My God, and they will never have to leave it.”
Jesus, in Revelation 3:10-12 Jesus commanded us to obey, & this Scripture should be a major encouragement to all believers today! We are to persevere (never give up) & stay strong in the face of troubles, trusting God to cover us with His protective favor & mercy. Hang on with all your might, even through what seems to be the darkest night...knowing a new day is coming. His promises are much more valuable than the meager trials & temptations of this world. Keep your eyes on your eternal prize...the crown God will give you to wear forever in the Temple with your Creator. Be encou…

Living A Life Worthy of Your Call

Morning Inspiration: So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of His call. May He give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with Him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 One of the toughest things for most believers, is to ever feel worthy of all God calls us to do! We feel guilty for the wrongs we’ve done in the past, & totally unqualified for what Jesus promises in our future! Paul tells believers that many others are praying for us, asking God to help us see that He will use us in mighty ways, if we only open our hearts up to the guiding of His Holy Spirit. While we can never be worthy through our own works, Jesus will give us the positive power necessary to accomplish ALL the good things God guides us to do! In gratitude, …

Where We Find Bold Confidence In Our Faith

Morning Inspiration: Since this new covenant gives us such confidence, we can be very bold.
2 Corinthians 3:12

All to often, we are afraid to talk about our faith. At times it’s because we are afraid we don’t measure up to what is expected. In the passages leading to this Scripture, Paul points out that even though the old covenant (the binding promise from God to mankind) was glorious, the Lord’s new promise is much, much better! God’s first messages & Scriptures were to show us who He is, & what He expects from us. We quickly learned that even trying our hardest, it is impossible to live up to God’s standards, through our own efforts. That realization brought condemnation, & made us feel hopeless about ever being good enough to be with God! All along, the Lord’s plan was to bring Jesus to us, so He could explain the new covenant! Jesus was sent as a sacrifice, to cover our sins & shortcomings Himself. Since He died for us, we are now able to live for Him. …

Changing Hearts While You Still Can

Morning Inspiration: That is why the Lord says,
“Turn to me now, while there is time.
Give me your hearts.
Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.
Don’t tear your clothing in your grief,
but tear your hearts instead.”
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He is eager to relent and not punish.
Joel 2:12-13 Joel was warning us about the day of the Lord, which will be both awesome AND terrible, depending on where you stand! Those of us who worship Jesus should look forward to the incredible changes His return will bring to our world! Those who don’t, will face an eternity of destruction & grief. If you don’t know Jesus, now is the perfect time to turn to Him, before it’s too late! Offer to give God your heart, & watch His mercy & forgiveness overwhelm you with love! He doesn’t require a big fancy demonstration, just a willingness to allow His Holy Spirit to step in & guide your life. That is the only…

Am I Seeing Jesus Clearly?

Morning Inspiration: Then Jesus told him, “I entered this world to render judgment—to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.” Some Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him and asked, “Are you saying we’re blind?” “If you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty,” Jesus replied. “But you remain guilty because you claim you can see.”
John 9:39-41 Jesus spoke about being physically unable to see, to point out something much worse...spiritual blindness. The Pharisees were insulted to hear Jesus say they were spiritually blind. After all, they were the religious leaders! They thought highly of themselves & their knowledge of the Scriptures. They felt they knew all about God, yet it is clear that they refused to see the truth of Jesus. Today, we each have to ask ourselves: Could the same be true, for me & you? “Lord Jesus, open my spiritual eyes wide, to let in the Light of the World, so I can truly know you, & understand what it is that …

Our sister Laura Galbraith is now with Jesus.

Our sister Laura Galbraith is now with Jesus. Her sister Beth let us know early this evening that the time was close, & Laura passed into the arms of our Savior about 7:30 tonight. Laura has been an active part of our NCC family for many years. Until she became very ill recently, she faithfully baked delicious loaves of homemade bread each week, to be handed out to every guest on their first visit to New Covenant.

Laura was a rather quiet person in crowds, but was very bold about her faith in Jesus. She was also brave enough to share many of the details of her cancer journey through her Facebook posts over the past several years. Being extremely intelligent, she did a good amount of research & study on her type of cancer. She wrote about her hope for new types of treatment, but ALWAYS stated that she had total trust in Jesus, and would be satisfied with whatever He decided. During our visit in the hospital just a few days ago, she was active & talkative, even a bit embarra…

How 'My Bad' Can Contribute to Your Good!

Morning Inspiration: This is a true saying, and everyone should believe it: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-and I was the worst of them all. But that is why God had mercy on me, so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of His great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in Him and receive eternal life.
Paul, in 1st Timothy ‪1:15-16‬ Even after all his wonderful accomplishments, the Apostle Paul never forgot the terrible things he did, before coming to follow Jesus. We can all learn from his example. The better we recognize the depth of our sinfulness...the more we will treasure God’s amazing forgiveness! When others recognize how much Jesus has changed us, they begin to realize He can do the same for them, no matter how far from God they have wandered. “Lord, please help many others to see, the amazing ways you’re transforming me...so that they too, will be encouraged to follow you.”

When God Won't Accept Our Offerings!

Morning Inspiration: “So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. “
Jesus, in Matthew 5:23

Jesus was teaching that murder is a sin, & that anger or ill will are just as bad. He made the point clear, by adding that God won’t even accept our offerings to Him, if we are angry with anyone else! Most of us are guilty of this. We hold grudges, hard feelings & anger for others inside our hearts...but go to church to offer God our prayers & sacrifices, thinking this makes things right in His sight. NO! He won’t be pleased with our offerings, until we do our best to make things right with anyone we may be at odds with. Following God’s directives aren’t always easy, but they us bring great rewards when we obey. Determine in your heart to make things right with someon…
