God Gets All The Glory

Morning Inspiration: Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault. All glory to Him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are His before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen. Jude 24–25 God gets ALL the glory! When we accept Jesus as our Lord & Savior, His power, majesty & authority are manifested in us, through His Holy Spirit. Our sinful nature is forgiven, & transformed. Any of the good things we do, are only possible because of His greatness, & the desire to serve, that He infuses into our hearts & minds. His unlimited favor & ability are ours for the asking. Always has been; always will be. Live for today, but always think eternally.

Scripture Overrules Traditions

Morning Inspiration: Matthew: Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked him, “Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.”
Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? For instance, God says, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.’ But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’ In this way, you say they don’t need to honor their parents. And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote,
‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship is a farce,
for they teach man-made ideas as commands from Go…

What Does Loving God Mean?

Morning Inspiration: Loving God means keeping His commandments, and really, it isn’t that difficult. For every child of God defeats this evil world by trusting Christ to give victory. And the ones who win this battle are the ones who believe Jesus is the Son of God. 1st John 5:3-5 Jesus said “If you love me, do what I say”. John reminds us, it’s not that tough to do...IF we trust our Savior completely. Life on this earth is a spiritual war. Each day is filled with many battles. Those who win are the ones who never give up & never give in. Be encouraged! Look up, & live in, the eternal promises of our loving God.

No Matter Who The Enemy Is...We Are Stronger!

Morning Inspiration: What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Romans 8:31–32 Paul had just finished explaining that as Believers, we have been called to come to the Lord, with right standing & the promise of His glory shared with us! So if God is on our side, why should we care who opposes us? We tend to ‘build up’ our enemies in our mind. We assume they have more power or influence than we do, & will use it to hurt us. Even if that’s true, & they do...why should we worry?
God is on OUR side! As long as we are living to serve Jesus as the King, God will give us everything that comes with being His children.

Understanding God's Ways

Morning Inspiration: Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give Him advice? And who has given Him so much that He needs to pay it back?
For everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen. Romans 11:33–36 After a week of reading Job, I feel drained. Yet I am also hopeful & encouraged. Those Scriptures do it to me every year, which is precisely why I make myself go over them at this time. Living in great luxury, with hours of free time to really think, can be great. Or terrible. Usually both! I’m so grateful God gave us true & unvarnished examples of Bible heroes. Job, David, Jonah, John the Baptist, Peter & many others who were perfectly unperfect, completely human. Weak, doubtful, & afraid, they wondered about God & His plans for them. Why? What? When Lord?…

Question God With Caution

Morning Inspiration: Then the Lord said to Job,
“Do you still want to argue with the Almighty?
You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?” Then Job replied to the Lord,
“I am nothing—how could I ever find the answers?
I will cover my mouth with my hand.
I have said too much already.
I have nothing more to say.”
Job 40:1–5 Job knew the Lord amazingly well. He admired & respected Him. He served & obeyed Him. He trusted Him completely...up until things went very wrong! Then Job let his pain, frustration & disappointment take over, & said things that never should have even entered his mind, yet alone left his lips. God’s reply stretches through all of chapters 38-39, & even then just barely touches on God’s creativity, power, understanding & wisdom. He could have stopped after His first four sentences:
“Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them. “W…

Seeing Through Pain, Fear & Doubt

Morning Inspiration: “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought! Job 19:25-27
The story of Job overwhelms me with grief, & worry...yet fills me with hope! What happened to Job could come to pass in any of our lives. Very few escape this existence unscathed by the harsh realities of life. Disappointment & doubt are certain to come, so we must place our complete trust in the Holy One. Regardless of the mountains of fear & pain right before our eyes, we must always know where to direct our cries. Stay focused on your ultimate prize; Standing in the presence of Jesus, & hearing “Well done my good & faithful servant.”

We Can Talk Too Much About God!

Morning Inspiration: His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.” But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong. Job 2:9–10 When they saw Job from a distance, they scarcely recognized him. Wailing loudly, they tore their robes and threw dust into the air over their heads to show their grief. Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and nights. No one said a word to Job, for they saw that his suffering was too great for words. Job 2:12–13 These two passages from chapter 2 of Job, both deal with the words we speak. Through the incredible pain of hearing of the death of his family & destruction of his life’s work, Job said nothing wrong. Later, his friends said nothing wrong, because they said nothing at all; not a word. They understood they could not ease his grief by talking. They shared his sorrow by ju…

From Luxury to Desolation, God is Near.

Morning Inspiration: There once was a man named Job who lived in the land of Uz. He was blameless—a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil. He had seven sons and three daughters. He owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 teams of oxen, and 500 female donkeys. He also had many servants. He was, in fact, the richest person in that entire area. Job 1:1–3 The book of Job is powerful, informative, & beneficial. It’s also incredibly sad, yet greatly encouraging. Honestly, it’s a difficult read. I ‘force’ myself to read it once each year. I choose to do so, when I’m on vacation, living in the lap of luxury, relaxing & enjoying the immense ‘health & wealth’ God has bestowed on me so lavishly. Job reminds us, it could all disappear in a moment! Everything we so naturally take for granted, is actually a gift from our Creator. From the world’s richest man, to a beggar on the streets, not a soul is immune to the desolation & destruction this life can brin…

We Don't Know, All We Think We Know About God!

Morning Inspiration: My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8–9 We always want to put God in a box. Our own neat & clean little box, where we can keep Him contained, pretending to know everything about Our Creator. How foolish we are, to act as though we know exactly what Jesus is thinking & planning. Yes, His Holy Word gives us great insight into what is coming & why...but NO man knows when! Not a soul knows exactly how. Likewise, we deceive ourselves by trying to make God fit into our dreams & desires. Our goal should be to conform to what Jesus has planned for us. His ways are immensely greater than ours...& so are His results. We significantly reduce our potential, effectiveness & spiritual growth, when we try to make Jesus like us. Our daily pra…

Call On Jesus While He Is Near

Morning Inspiration: Seek the Lord while you can find him.
Call on him now while he is near.
Let the wicked change their ways
and banish the very thought of doing wrong.
Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.
Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.
Isaiah 55:6–7 God is always nearby, waiting for us to call on His Holy Name.
Yet often we push Him away through our sinful behaviors, or run from Jesus on our own.
After we’ve been gone for a while, we convince ourselves we are so lost,
that we are beyond His salvation. No matter what you’ve done, you can come
back to God’s only Son! You do not have to live without hope! When you turn to
the Lord & ask Jesus to forgive you, He will! Ask Jesus come into your heart as
Lord & Savior. Seek Him. Find Him. While you still can. Before it’s too late.

Our Best 'Feeding' Comes From Reading!

Morning Inspiration: “Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—
even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk—
it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?
Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good.
You will enjoy the finest food. Isaiah 55:1–2 God uses the example of food & drink, to explain that while many are starving spiritually, His abundance is freely available to us all! Just as mankind wastes away without a steady supply of food, we need our daily bread, in the form of God’s Word! Truth be told, we not only need His Word, we crave it! Just as a body that’s not receiving proper nutrients goes into distress, our souls are even more sensitive. Why waste your time & money ‘feeding’ on the garbage the world offers? It damages both you, & your relationship with Jesus. Your most important daily feeding, comes when you’re reading! The Scriptures in God’s Word help us grow to become more lik…

Seeing Sin In Others, Is Seeing It In Ourselves.

Morning Inspiration: Remember, the sins of some people are obvious, leading them to certain judgment. But there are others whose sins will not be revealed until later.
1st Timothy 5:24 These two simple sentences are packed with important info, & remind us of what other Scriptures teach: No one truly knows the heart of another person, except God. Our tendency is to build up human heroes as examples of perfection. Yet all of us have sinned, & all of us will sin again. We set ourselves up for disappointment when we place our faith & trust in anyone except Jesus. We are easily fooled by mankind, & we even fool ourselves. We think we won't fall into sin again, or that we won't get caught. God knows all & sees all. Jesus told us that someday, all our sins will be shouted from the rooftops! Ouch. So while the sin of some is obvious for us to see, we should pray for them, forgive & encourage them to follow the Lord. We are sinful too, so not qualified or worthy…

How We Are Made Right In God's Sight!

Morning Inspiration: We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done. Romans 3:22 There are so many powerful thoughts in these two simple sentences, that we could talk about them for hours! First and foremost, we are made right with God, simply by our faith in His Son, Jesus! We are forgiven, even if we find it hard to forgive ourselves! We are found not guilty, even though it’s clear we’ve committed the crimes. We are freed from the chains that have tied us up in slavery to wrong behaviors (like addiction to alcohol, drugs, stealing, murder, cheating, etc) even though we’ve tried to quit a thousand times on our own! The last sentence is key: NO matter who we are, or what we’ve done...we get a fresh, clean start with Jesus, God’s amazing Son. Ready to begin again? Your Savior is too. Talk with Him right now!
