Living Though We Are Dying

Morning Inspiration: Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are quite small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever. 2nd Corinthians ‪4:16-18‬
Paul reminds us the ‘trash’ we have to deal with now, is building the treasure we are promised in the near future. We can’t allow things like rejection, pain, loss, illness or even deadly disease to wear us down, and make us think of quitting. We are all in the process of dying, yet Jesus wants us to live life to the fullest each day! Paul learned to focus the power of the Holy Spirit on the great reward that is still to come. That renewed his enthusiasm and commitment...and it will do the same for us! “Lord Jesus, give me your strength to overcome my weakness. Remind me that the way I deal with my sufferings today, can help seal my eternal rewards tomorrow.”

Prayer Request Joshua Link

Urgent prayer request for our brother Josh Link, his wife Mary & their young children. Here is the latest Facebook post from Josh:
So apparently I’m really bad at this social media stuff. It has been over a year since I’ve given everyone an update on my health, so here goes.
As most of you know by now, I’ve been fighting colorectal cancer since August 2016. I made it through all the treatments and surgeries and was considered “cancer free” until February of this year when they found some new lesions on my liver and a possible lymph node. Thus, I began chemo again in March and finished in May. The cancer responded well to the chemo so they determined another liver resection was the best course of action.
I have spent the last couple months recovering from the chemo, getting mistletoe treatments, and doing everything possible to get as strong and healthy as possible for the pending surgery. I will have that surgery tomorrow at 0730 at UNM main and hope to be out within 3-4 days. …

Urgent Prayer Request for Laura Galbraith

I just returned from a hospital visit with Laura Galbraith. Many of you know she has been bravely battling a rare form of cancer for the past several years. Today, due to another development in her health status, Laura decided to discontinue any further treatments. While she still believes God can and will cure her, she is at the stage where her knowledge of this situation has brought her to understand that further medical treatments are useless. While she is sad it has come to this, she is still hopeful, & joyful.  She joked & laughed again & again during our short visit.

Her sister Beth is here & will be able to stay, while plans are made for Laura to move into Home Hospice care. I told Laura how grateful I have been for her openness throughout this long & difficult process. Her Facebook posts have been open & honest, & she has repeatedly expressed her complete & endless faith in Jesus. She has encouraged many others through her personal witness in th…

Careful Listening, Deeper Understanding

Morning Inspiration:  “To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.”  Jesus in Mark 4:25
Who doesn’t desire a deeper understanding of God’s plan for us in this world? As Jesus uses the term here, ‘listening’ is much more than just hearing what He says. If you hear God’s Word, but don’t listen carefully to what it teaches us to do, then it becomes worthless.  Careful listening gives us a much deeper understanding of what to expect, & how to react. Jesus warns that careless or lazy listening, puts us in danger of losing what understanding we may already have. Listen carefully to all that Jesus teaches; then think about it seriously, pray deeply & respond eagerly.
May God Bless,
