Replacing Your Spirit of Fear

Morning Inspiration! "For God has not given us a spirit of fear & timidity, but of power, love & self discipline. So you must never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord." 2 Timothy 1:7 As a Christian in today’s society, it’s common to feel overwhelmed, misunderstood & marginalized. That can make us hesitant or afraid to share our faith. When that happens, Evil wins. Pray for boldness! Ask God for the opportunity & ability to tell the world of all that Jesus has done for you!

Living Right In A World That Is Wrong

Morning Inspiration! We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. Titus 2:12-13 I want to live a life that’s pleasing to God. Easy to say, tough to do. It’s actually impossible on my own. Especially in today’s hyper sensitive & angry environment, when the world seems to be turning upside down. Yet with constant guidance & encouragement from His Holy Spirit, we become more & more like God’s only Son. Our ability to persevere in devotion to God, grows from our confident hope for the future. We know what’s coming! Yes there is evil all around us, but Satan has not bound us. We are safe & secure, because Jesus has found us.

Who Will Be At Your Table?

Morning Inspiration: “When you put on a luncheon or a banquet,” he said, “don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward. Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you.” Luke 14:12–14 As we approach the holidays, it’s time to pray about who will be seated around our dinner tables for the special celebrations. We honor Jesus when we invite those who have no family or close friends, with few resources, & no way to pay us back. If you’ve never done this, you are missing out on a wonderful way to live out the teachings of our Savior. You may need to provide a ride to & from. Try to send them home with lots of yummy leftovers, & memories of pleasant, warm conversations & friendship that they will treasure. This has become a tradition of ours over the years, & Go…

The Light Keeps Us From Falling

Morning Inspiration: “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
Jesus, quoted in John 8:12 Just as we can stumble & hurt ourselves when we go through a dark area, walking through life without a light is dangerous. This key declaration from Jesus, is His personal invitation to each of us. Following Him keeps us from falling needlessly into the traps & dangers of life. In the dark, we are overly cautious, sometimes afraid, & slow to move forward. With Jesus as our Savior lighting the way, we are able to keep moving with confidence, while steadily making progress. More importantly, His ‘Light’ helps us see the sin in our lives, so we can be saved from the darkness of evil.

Some Rules Are More Important!

Morning Inspiration! Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked him, “Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.” Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God?”
Matthew 15:1–3 The religious leaders were being nit-picky about breaking one of the rules, they themselves had created. So Jesus points out they were breaking the laws of God, by honoring their rules...over His! Church Traditions can be wonderful, & often add to the fabric of our faith. However, we should NEVER give them precedence over Scripture! Church Traditions should help us to better understand God’s Word, not supersede or overrule it!

Acquiring the Wisdom of God

Morning Inspiration: My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice!
Everything in me will celebrate when you speak what is right. Proverbs 23:15–16 Proverbs 23 repeatedly mentions the importance of acquiring wisdom & knowledge. Nothing fills a parent with joy, more than watching our children growing, into knowing our God! Just as we celebrate when our children speak of Jesus with understanding & truth, God Himself rejoices when we do the same. Yet, learning the ways of the Lord are not as simple as just reading & memorizing the words of Scripture. We have to continuously practice putting His wisdom & knowledge into action. Every single day brings more trials & testing, as we learn to actually live out God’s wisdom & knowledge through our words, thoughts & actions.

Visible Evidence of God

Morning Inspiration:
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word;
their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world.
Psalm 19:1–4 The magnificence of creation is hard to miss, when we gaze at the skies above us.
Whether it’s sunshine that is blindingly brilliant, a blanket of billowing clouds that can suddenly make a day appear grey, or a Moon so bright that you forget it is night...the heavens constantly point us to Gods amazing creativity & might. Without speaking a single word, the world God created makes his power & presence visible to us all. None of this intricacy could have happened by chance or accident. A design requires a designer. Look. Listen. Learn. Jesus has much to teach us all.

Recipe To Be A Friend

Morning Inspiration! Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. Philippians 4:6-7 This is a Scripture we all need to put it into action more often! The Peace of God goes beyond all human understanding, & is just what most of us need to rediscover today. I find myself making a mental inventory of ‘All I Have to Do’, & it often seems overwhelming. God says ‘All I HAVE to do’ is worry less, & pray more! When I find myself in worry mode, I thank Jesus for all he has already done, & all he promises is still to come. That reminds me of how much he has already given me, & gives me confidence he will do the same with whatever I’m facing today. Another Scripture teaches us “Don’t worry about anything, instead, pray about everything”. God, please remind me that YOU are in control, & that when I’m living my life in Your Will, I am safe in your arms.

Worry Less By Praying More

His Light Washes Away Our Darkness

Morning Inspiration! This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. 1 John 1:5–6 Light represents what is true & good, holy & right. Darkness is the absence of light. Those who follow the ways of this dark world are often confused, because they can’t tell the difference between wrong & right. God’s Word makes it as clear as & day & night. Many call themselves Christians, but continue to allow large areas of darkness to control their lives. Just as darkness can’t exist in the presence of light, God’s Holy Spirit can’t continue to funtion in the life an unrepentant sinner. Jesus is the Light of the world. As we let him in, we learn to practice the Truth of God’s Word in our life. The sin washes away, & we become more & more like our Lord & Savior. Practice bei…

What Do You Need Removed?

Morning Inspiration! For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. Hebrews 4:12–13
When we honestly take the time, to allow God’s word to come into our lives, it will penetrate our heart, cut to the truth & remove the lies we have been hearing & telling! We will see ourselves, & the world, in an entirely different light. Our personal imperfections & shortcomings become glaringly obvious. Our secret sins & wicked desires are exposed right in front of our Creator! Seeing what we are like, in comparison to God’s perfect holiness, is startling & humbling. Yet rather than condemn & banish us from his presence, because of how we are, Jesus forgives & loves us, because of wh…

Persevere For Protection

Morning Inspiration! “Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world, to test those who belong to this world. Look I am coming quickly, so hold onto what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.” Jesus in Revelation 3:10-11 We are getting SO close to the most amazing time in history! Never give up your hope in the Truth of Jesus. When you keep & live out the faith, you help others to do the same. The rewards are beyond imagination! They are coming very soon...& will last for eternity.

The Sins Of Others Are A Tricky Trap!

Morning Inspiration! Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. Most of us know what happened next: When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, leaving Jesus alone to forgive the woman. What we don’t know, is what he was writing in the dust.
Many think he was listing some of the accusers sins. Oh how we ALL could learn from this today! We have no place condemning others, when we ourselves are living lives filled with sin! Whether we go back 35 years, or 35 seconds, there is not a single one of us who doesn’t fall short of God’s expectations of us!
Jesus was telling…

Doing Good Can Be Discouraging

Morning Inspiration! So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. Galatians 6:9-10 As we try to do good things for others, we have to be careful to trust God for the results, & not get discouraged. People might respond with thanks, but indifference & even anger are not uncommon. Some will show great improvement & change, while others actually get worse. Regardless, we have to realize we only see a small part of the big picture, & have no window into the future. Those who show little or no response today, may eventually be touched in a powerful way, as a direct result of something kind you do or say! Either way, remember we are working for the Lord, & it is Jesus who provides our reward! Let’s all do as much good as we can, for as many people as possible, as long as we a…

Rethinking Who Is Good Enough

Morning Inspiration! Later, Levi invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. (There were many people of this kind among Jesus’ followers.) But when the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees saw him eating with tax collectors and other sinners, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with such scum?” When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.” Mark 2:15–17 Our Lord & Savior wasn’t blinded by anyone’s ‘current status’ 2,000 years ago, & he feels exactly the same way today. Jesus was perfectly comfortable with those society viewed as unsalvageable & worthless. He showed us that people who are hurting, angry, lost, on the wrong side of the law, or looked down on by society as ‘not good enough’..are where God mines for gold! Jesus spent time with …

Your Behavior Can Grieve God!

Morning Inspiration! Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:29–30
God cares so much about us, that it hurts him when we speak or behave in a way that is out of character for those who call Jesus Lord. Just as we can be filled with sorrow when our own children act out in ways counter to what they have been taught, (especially once they become adults), God’s Holy Spirit can be grieved by our words & actions. Remember that YOU are an ambassador of the King. More importantly, he has adopted you as his very own child! Think, speak & act accordingly, with kindness & forgiveness, living a life that is defined by love. (Catch a Morning Inspiration you may have missed at nccabq.blogspot.com)

This Scripture Helps Us Beat Temptation

Morning Inspiration! If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
1 Corinthians 10:12–13 Having trouble dealing with temptation? This simple passage is so incredibly powerful & effective, that I’ve made hundreds of laminated cards with this Scripture featured on them. I’m always looking for opportunities to hand them out to those I meet, who may be struggling to break a harmful habit or behavior. A very kind Believer made one for me when I first began to follow Jesus, & it has helped me tremendously over the years. Paul reminds us of the basics: Be careful not to think you’re too strong to be tempted, because that’s when we are most vulnerable! Realize that we all face the same basic temptations. Understand that God won’t even allo…
